The Automated Dry Cleaning Assembly Conveyor has been a definite labor saver for our operation. We have reduced our four-person customer service/mark-in/assembly force by one staff member since we initiated heat sealing and automated assembly operations. Pretty impressive, since over this period of time our volume has also increased by 20%. This savings in labor has more than offset the amortized cost of the conveyor. As an added benefit, between the assembly conveyor and heat sealing, lost items and misassembled orders have dropped by 85%. We anticipate this value will approach 95% as we refine our oversight of the assembly operation.
The ability to hold orders on the assembly conveyor has also proven to be beneficial in separating orders between in-store and five routes. For example, we hold all of one day of in-store on the conveyor and then offload only in-store by alphabetical order all at once. This allows us to group each individual customer's orders together and then rack them together on the storage conveyor. It greatly economizes the time spent downstream of the assembly conveyor since we are not having to separate and categorize all of the assembled orders by hand as they are randomly removed from the conveyor upon completion. In short, the ADAC has been a great addition to our operation and has been significantly revenue positive.

I had a flawless installation of my HMC assembly conveyor. What I love the most about the system is how much the HMC assembly system continues to evolve and get faster. HMC has easy upgrades. We first looked into getting the automated assembly conveyor at the convention in Las Vegas. Kevin Rowell was representing the company ADAC when he told us how efficient the system was. I was not interested in becoming more efficient as much as I was thinking how much space this would save. This is exactly what happened at Marks Cleaners. Every morning we would organize all the tickets for that day both Dry clean & Laundry after that we would hang the tickets. Now keep in mind that we have 2 separate areas for dry clean and laundry, that's how tight our space is. Our piece count would not exceed 8 pieces on and invoice so we would end up hanging all the 8's and waiting for space to hang the rest of the tickets. We had finished garments being pushed around everywhere. It was frustrating to say the least. We had decided to go with ADAC and what Kevin told us about how much space it would save us.
